Candied Cara Cara Orange Chips

Seasonal oranges, thin and crispy, perfect for sharing with guests and paired well with cocktails, ice cream, pastries, dips and certainly eaten by itself.  Presented in a beautiful Weck jar from Germany.

The beautiful, rose-colored Cara Cara also called the red-fleshed naval was first discovered in 1976 at Hacienda Cara Cara in Venezuela. Cara Cara oranges have very low acid and are sweet with notes of berries and rose petals. They are full of antioxidants including vitamin A, C, folate and lycopene giving it its wonderful hue. These organic orange chips are sourced from my local farmers market in Culver City.

Oranges contain Vitamin C, fiber, potassium, choline and is rich in Vitamin A.  Peels and pith contain more fiber than the fruit inside and contain flavonoids and phytonutrients, which have anti-inflammatory benefits. The pith also contains hesperidin, which protects the heart by lowering blood pressure and regulating cholesterol levels.
